Friends by Ken Parson

This submission has such depth for many reasons. This was submitted by Lynn Parson. It was written by her late husband Ken. I find it amazing and so touching because Ken is the father of my life long best friend Teresa. His words speak so true of his daughter and the values he taught her in being a good friend. This poem is quite bittersweet, I wish he were with us to see his name in print, and to see the difference he made in this world, through his words, his life, and the legacy he left behind. Ken I know you are shining down on us and smiling, I can see that familiar smile and I know your children and Lynn feel so blessed that you left them with such beautiful memories. I thank you Lynn for sharing this with the world and hope you will submit more of his work.

Friends

A friend is always there.. in the good times and the bad
They take away your pain.. when they know your heart is sad
A friend will always have an ear.. to listen to your thoughts
Never passing judgment.. and never finding fault.

A friend will care about you.. how you feel from deep within
They realize that they don’t know.. the shoes that you walk in
A friend will always have a hand.. Stretched out for you to hold
To offer gentle comfort.. when all others seem so cold.

A friend will laugh with you.. And at times they’ll also cry
They do what is needed.. And they never say goodbye
A friend always has open arms.. and a hug that is full of love
All in all I guess a friend.. is a gift sent from up above.
